The Railway House Accommodation stands on an older public house site that once served ales when the Darlington to Stockton railway first opened. It has been upgraded and refurbished to a high standard to provide Serviced apartments within walking distance of the Railway Station (Hence the name) and museum where you could find the Ghost of North Road. Darlington has many features and historic walks around the town.
RHA is a family run business that saw a need for good quality affordable short term
Accommodation. It was after a property sale fell through that Graeme and his wife Sarah when relocating to the North East were forced to stay in a hotel for 21 continuous nights.
Sarah says: "At first it was great having the room cleaned and tidied, a restaurant on the doorstep but after a week it was beginning to wear thin when you’re working and trying to have a normal life rather than on holiday. And not to mention eating out each night put pounds on her husband, oh how we yearned for beans on toast rather than French cuisine"
Graeme says: "Some nights I just wanted a takeaway pizza but you cannot take them back to the room in a hotel and I would love cup of tea with fresh milk rather than UHT packets on a morning. Although I yearned for my Play station I didn’t want to pack it away each night before the maids came so it had to stay in it’s box,- I suffered withdrawal systems.
This saw the beginnings of an idea that took them 5 years to put into reality.
Now a stay with the family run company is very relaxed, with total flexibility on the hours you can keep and of course privacy. In fact they are “just like home” .
Business clients stay from anywhere from 1 night to 1 year. Many more private clients use us when visiting their relatives and space is at a premium at weekends and holiday times. We have a wide range of business clients from actors, doctors and research assistants all who are on short contracts from 1 week to 8 weeks and find that we offer better value for money than hotels, B & B or even 6 month lets.
We are flexible enough to be able to cater for all these options.
